This information is only collected from potential winners during the winner-confirmation process.
3. Purposes of collection
We collect and use personal information to:
- Authenticate you with a one-time email code and maintain your session

- Enable voting, abuse reporting, and winner selection under published rules
- Contact you about account security, competition notices, and winner/prize logistics

By creating an account, submitting an entry, voting, or contacting us, you consent to the collection and use of personal information for the purposes described in this policy. Where practicable, we seek consent at the time of collection. You may withdraw consent subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice; withdrawal may mean we cannot provide competition services.
5. Service providers and international storage
We currently use the following categories of service providers to operate SelfieQueen:
- Application hosting (Vercel)
- Database hosting (Neon Postgres)
- Photo / object storage (Vercel Blob)
- Transactional email for login codes and essential competition notices (Postmark)
- Bot protection / CAPTCHA (Cloudflare Turnstile)
We do not currently use third-party advertising analytics on the public site. Providers may process data in Canada, the United States, or other countries. Where information is stored or accessed outside British Columbia, it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.
6. Retention and deletion
We retain account, entry, vote, report, and moderation records for as long as needed to operate the competition, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and maintain security logs. Login codes are short-lived (about 10 minutes). Sessions expire after a limited period.
Records used to make eligibility, moderation, disqualification, scoring, or winner-selection decisions will generally be retained for at least one year after the relevant decision. After applicable retention periods expire, records will be securely deleted or anonymized unless continued retention is reasonably required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.
Winner verification information (proof of age, proof of Canadian residency, and shipping address) is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to administer the competition, address fraud or disputes, and satisfy legal or accounting requirements. We do not retain identity documents indefinitely.
You may request review or deletion of your account or entry by emailing the Privacy Officer at privacy@selfiequeen.com. We will respond to an access request no later than 30 days after receiving it, subject to any extension permitted by applicable law.
7. Photos and publicity
Approved entries may be displayed publicly on SelfieQueen (including gallery, winner, and related announcement pages). See the Terms and contest Rules for publicity permissions tied to entry. Important consequences of public publication include that your image, name, and story may be:
- Indexed by search engines
- Copied, screenshotted, or shared by other users or third parties
- Cached or archived after you request deletion or withdrawal
- Visible to people outside Canada
Winner profiles are intended to remain available for the life of the SelfieQueen platform, subject to applicable law, valid privacy requests, safety concerns, and the continued operation of the service. Absolute permanence cannot be guaranteed.
8. Security and breaches
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted transport, access controls for administrators, rate limiting, and moderated publication of entries. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. If we experience a privacy breach, we will assess the risk, take appropriate containment and remediation steps, notify affected individuals and regulators where required by applicable law, and may report significant breaches to the appropriate privacy regulator where appropriate.
9. Access, correction, and complaints
You may request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you by contacting the Privacy Officer at privacy@selfiequeen.com. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (OIPC).
